Sharron Rush is the award-winning co-founder and Executive Director of Knowbility, nonprofit advocacy, consulting, and training company based in Austin, Texas. Since 1998, Sharron has been a leader in raising awareness and skills around the issue of access to technology for people with disabilities.

On July 16, 2020, Accessibility VR hosted a Meetup entitled "From Hack to Product Feature - How to Leverage R&D at Work Through Hackathons." Presenter Roland Dubois,  Lead Product Designer at Virtual Facility, outlined how product teams in companies can take advantage of the hackathon ecosystem to incorporate XR technology and exploratory concepts into their software design lifecycle. Roland also demonstrated a functioning prototype of a hackathon project he built at the MIT Reality Hack 2020 in Boston, MA, titled “The Progressively Enhanced Indoor Navigation in WebXR.”

On May 21, 2020, Accessibility VR hosted a Meetup entitled VR Interactions - A Comparison Between Gaze, Controller and Hand. Presenter Sam Qorbani, a digital media designer experienced in UX research and design, described some of his research on various types of interactions to be used with Virtual/Augmented reality.

On Tuesday, March 14th, I hosted a webinar with Chancey Fleet titled, “Live Audio Descriptions for 360-Degree Video: Best Practices.” The webinar gave Chancey and I an opportunity to share our research on audio descriptions (AD) for immersive media, and start a conversation with the wider accessibility community about where to go from here.
