On May 17, 2018, Equal Entry CEO Thomas Logan was a featured presenter at NYC Digital Inclusion & Accessibility 2018. The one-day conference for City employees was co-hosted by NYC Digital, of the Mayor’s Office of the CTO, and the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities. The purpose of the event was to empower City workers to create digital experiences that serve all New Yorkers equally.
In a presentation entitled “Build Your Accessibility Evaluation Toolkit,” Thomas walked a standing-room only audience through the process of selecting the best tools to use to test and evaluate digital products and content. Beginning with the guidelines for content authors writing with plain language, Thomas continued his demonstration by providing tools and best practices for designers, developers and authors engaged in:
- Evaluating web page color contrast
- Automatic tests with aXe
- Inspecting accessibility with WAVE
- Testing with the keyboard
- Screen reader tests.
In closing, Thomas encouraged City employees to learn more by joining Equal Entry’s Knowledge Base, a subscription only, online repository of tips, videos and other tools to help make technology accessible.
