Our Process

Our auditing process follows careful steps:

  1. How many types of content do you have? Do you have an app for an iPhone, a website, PDF support documentation, an application that runs on a digital kiosk? How much content is there? Answering these questions helps us to set accurate parameters for the audit.

  2. How do people access your content, and what do they do with it? Together, we will document the most important features of your technology and produce an exact series of steps that a user performs.

  3. The audit moves step-by-step through your most popular scenarios in order to evaluate real-world usage of your technology. Can people who use various types of assistive technology perform every step of each process, and get all the information they need?

  4. With our approach, we can give you a smaller number of issues to focus on that will yield the best results for users with disabilities. Each issue we produce includes screenshots and are easy to communicate in your team.

  5. Our report thoroughly documents where your content may fall short of various accessibility standards, and provides examples from your site code that pinpoint the exact location of each issue.

  6. Our team is dedicated to helping you resolve any issues you may be experiencing. We will help you figure out a plan to address them, and we can retest your site after the fixes have been made. If desired, we can even train your staff on various accessibility topics.

  7. We produce multiple ACRs for you, so you will have a clear way to show all the effort you have put in to make your technology more accessible. Many times, when a lawsuit occurs, it alleges that a company is doing nothing for accessibility. When working with Equal Entry, multiple reports show your company's commitment to accessibility, and that you are on a trajectory to fixing and addressing any accessibility issues. It is often not possible to fix every accessibility issue, but when working in a prioritized way to improve access for people with disabilities, we can support your organization in showing your best efforts to achieve the best experience for everyone.

Why a manual audit?

Automated testing tools can sometimes provide a big-picture view of how accessible your digital content might be. However, these tools often flag “false positives” that are not truly issues at all. Many organizations spend time and money attempting to resolve issues that do not seriously affect people with disabilities. Equal Entry's process focuses on what matters: ensuring people can be successful using the most important parts of your technology.

Manual testing is much more reliable.

The tester moves through your content in the exact same way that a person using assistive technology would move through it. If an accessibility issue blocks the tester from moving forward, then you know it's a serious and high-priority issue that needs to be fixed right away.
