Recap of Equal Entry’s Participation in the Music AccessAbility Hackathon

Monthly Music Hackathon: March 24th, 2018.

This past Saturday, Equal Entry attended the March Monthly Music Hackathon NYC, where this month’s theme was “Music AccessAbility.” The goal of the event was to make music-making and consumption easier and more enjoyable for people with disabilities, as well as raise awareness about the needs of people with disabilities broadly to more effectively navigate and interact with content on the web. Attendees with experience levels ranging from novice to expert gathered in teams to prototype, develop and deploy projects reflecting this theme. Sam Berman and Thomas Logan led an hour-long workshop entitled “Web Accessibility Basics” with the goal of demystifying some of the common misconceptions about what it means to be accessible and how to implement accessible solutions. They drew a crowd of over 20 people eager to make their projects more usable by people of all abilities.

Monthly Music Hackathon NYC is organized by Music Community Lab, Inc., which is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization.
